Armstrong With New Downwind Boards

Armstrong Downwind Performance Boards

Shaped for the podium.

Overview

The Downwind Performance boards are oriented specifically at expert riders chasing performance freeride and competitive downwind foiling. Stretched in length and reduced in width, the DWP boards feature an ultralight outer carbon innegra sandwich skin with our proven double stringer construction for exceptional stiffness and light weight. The DWP boards incorporate design features that make them ultra efficient at paddling, popping up and recovering from touchdowns. Their length, paddling speed and tracking ability help riders get small foils flying with ease. A refined bow shape with a split foredeck pierce and shed water effortlessly, and the new diamond V tail and increased tail rocker pop off the water ultra efficiently.

Inspired by the new deck grip design on our Wing FG foilboards, the Downwind and Downwind Performance boards include a fully redesigned grip tailored specifically to provide riders with maximum control, comfort and versatility when downwinding. In conjunction with the flatter deck shape, this grip features raised central bars above the foil tracks and elevated blocks in each corner of the pad, front and back, for intuitive foot placement. Boards come with deck grips uninstalled so that riders can finish building their perfect setup.

Features

– Speed and stability
– Exceptional paddling speed thanks to a stretched outline and narrow width allows riders to get the smallest foils flying. Paddling stability is derived from length that minimises bobbing and excellent directional tracking
– Split foredeck
– Inspired by our Wing FG boards, the split anhedral foredeck shape sheds water with ease.
– Refined bow
– Improved paddling efficiency and touchdown recovery and reduced swing weight for pumping and carving.
– Minimal deck recess
– A flatter deck to hold more volume and shed standing water more quickly.- New deck grip
– Like on our Wing FG board range, raised deck grip arch bars and front/rear corner blocks provide intuitive foot placement references.
– Diamond V tail
– All new tail shape with significantly more rocker and an extra chine to improve takeoff performance and minimise tail touchdowns when pumping and carving.
– Foil track placement
– Pushed further forward for increased lift and manoeuvrability.

Armstrong Downwind Boards

The evolution of the Downwind board concept.

Overview

Taking what we learned from the Downwind boards initially introduced in 2023, the evolution of these boards is faster, more refined and even more stable per size for riders from rookie through advanced. Like the previous generation, these boards are also terrifically versatile and are excellent for lightwind winging and SUP surf foiling. Seeking greater efficiency and user friendliness in the paddle popup, each size has been lengthened by 3.5-5% to improve paddling speed and increase stability. The foil tracks are now further forward as well for increased manoeuvrability and lift. When combined with subtle refinements to the rocker line and overall shape of the tail, these boards lift off the water exceptionally cleanly and easily.
