Continental Surf Cup 2026 Highlights

Team USA Makes History at the 2026 Continental Surf Cup

A first for Chelan: For the first time in the history of the Continental Surf Cup, Team USA has claimed the overall victory. On the 16-meter-wide citywave at Lakeside Surf in Chelan, Washington, a close battle with Team Europe unfolded throughout the weekend—with the hosts coming out on top.

With a score of 27.75 to 23.25, Team USA prevailed over the European team, celebrating its historic first overall victory. The outcome was not decided until the end of an intense weekend, during which both teams fought for every point right up to the finish.

Lennard Weinhold Delivers an Outstanding Performance

From a German perspective, Lennard Weinhold was the standout performer. The German delivered an exceptional performance in the men’s final, scoring 19.33 points. With that, he not only secured the day’s victory but also his fourth consecutive individual title at the Continental Surf Cup.

In an extremely high-level final, Weinhold narrowly edged out the American Cash Eygabroad, who also delivered a strong performance with 18.80 points. They were followed by Maximilian Lex with 18.68 points and Jose “Cacaro” Lopez with 18.40 points.

The close scores in particular demonstrate the high level at which the men’s final was contested. Weinhold’s 19.33 points were among his strongest performances at the Continental Surf Cup and once again underscored his exceptional skill on the standing wave.

Europe Well Ahead – U.S. Wins as a Team

The close competition was also evident in the team finals. Representing Europe in the decisive showdown were two strong German riders, Lennard Weinhold and Maximilian Lex. On the U.S. side were Cash Eygabroad and Jose “Cacaro” Lopez.

While Europe performed particularly well at the top, Team USA racked up the crucial points throughout the competition. In the end, their 4.5-point lead was enough to win the Continental Surf Cup for the first time.

With this, the U.S. team is writing a new chapter in the history of the competition.

Cash Hoover Continues Her Winning Streak

In the women’s division, Cash Hoover once again set the standard. The American won both the Women’s Open singles title and the Best Trick Contest, further building on her impressive track record at the Continental Surf Cup.

Hoover has become one of the most successful athletes in the competition and made a significant contribution to Team USA’s historic overall victory in Chelan.

A Continental Surf Cup on Equal Footing

The 2026 Continental Surf Cup thus showcased exactly what makes this format so special: Team Europe versus Team USA, individual performances at the highest level, and a team competition that remained wide open until the very end.

For Team USA, Chelan ends with the long-awaited first overall victory. Although Team Europe suffered its first defeat, it can still take home some notable sporting achievements, including Lennard Weinhold’s fourth consecutive title and the strong performances of the German riders.

And for us here at Stand Up Magazine, this weekend has also reaffirmed, at least to some extent, why we decided to look beyond SUP, foil, and wing: The Citywave and the Continental Surf Cup definitely provide stories worth covering.
