Maui2Molokai Analysis and Statements

The 2026 Maui2Molokai proved to be an outstanding success, delivering what many participants described as the best Pailolo Channel crossing on race day in decades. We feature two in-depth videos that recap one of the most exciting editions of the event, complete with interviews and reactions from athletes who traveled to Hawaii from around the world.

With 131 SUP Foil competitors on the start line, the level of competition reached a new high. As Kai Lenny summed it up: “Last year it was hard to make the top ten. Now it’s hard to make the top 20.”

Once again, the battle at the front came down to the now-familiar rivalry between Kai Thompson, Edo Tanas and Kane DeWilde. In the first video, we break down the live race tracking, analyze the different lines chosen across the Pailolo Channel, and look at how the race unfolded. The second video takes you behind the scenes at the start line before bringing you to the finish, where the athletes share their thoughts on one of the fastest and most memorable Maui2Molokai races to date.
