The 2024 ICF SUP World Championships in Sarasota are less than 4 month from now. It was time to take a closer look at the starter list found on Paddle Guru. After last years mega participation in Thailand, expectations for Sarasota 2024 are high and the SUP World is looking forward to this event, that will also mark the end of a big SUP Season 2024.
November is still a bit out and there are still quite a few names missing on the list. The sprint category seems to to be the most popular one as we count 223 sign ups as of August 7th the distance race has 211 names and the Tech. Race 205 people signed up.
There is still time to sign up, but the event has been announced a very long time ago, so we might also wonder what are people waiting for? We at the Stand Up Magazin are continuing to monitor the numbers over the next few month until we have a final head count.
For now we picked out some names that are already on the list and have been standing out to us. Since the sprint race has the most people signed up we are looking at this list only to keep things simple. Most Open competing athletes participate in all three anyway.
