Namur SUP Race EURO TOUR Results

The results for the Namur SUP Race just dropped, and there was definitely a surprise. The 11km longdistance brought in racers from all over Europe and even one from over seas. Thanks to Deloitte who sponsored the event racers got an even better pay check as the winners took home € 1000.- in price money.

Starting with the surprise in the ladies category: Kimberly Barnes from the US. She beat one of Europe’s favorite, Duna Gordillo by 2 seconds which equate to roughly half a board length. This is particularly impressive as Kimberly is paddling in the master class and we do not remember when we saw a master winning over paddlers in the elite class last. In third we had the Italian Elite Junior Claudia Postiglione. In fourth place we had defending champion Petronalla van Malsen with a time of 1:11:18 which is actually 26 seconds faster than here 2023 time. In this sense it was quite a mixed podium of ages and for once it was Master Class paddler who took the gold. (It sure would have been interesting if we had Esperanze Barrers and some other top ladies in the mix there.)

On the men side, Donato Freens defended his title with 3 seconds in the lead over Ethan Bry. Aaron Sanchez was in the mix as well as he was very close to Ethan missing silver only by one second. Two seconds behind that was Fernando Perez missing the podium. The last in the pack of 5 was Joep Van Bakel with a time of 1:01:21 than the gap grew significantly to over 10 minutes.
