Just like with sprints, Tech Race are great to watch and with a setting like in Hungary the event becomes that much better. The beauty about Tech Races is, that we have the unknown factor of carnage at the buoy turn when athletes are competing for the tightest turn.
Starting with the man: Its nice to see that Christian Andersen hows name did not show up on podiums that much this season so far was able to clinch the gold medal. He was almost 3 seconds faster than his Greek opponent Phaedon Doukas. A bit of a surprise is Andrii Kraitors 6th place, he just won the sprint race and we might have thought he would make a podium on the 1000m race course. Unfortunately the ECA did not broadcast the A-Finals on Youtube so we might have missed some crazy situations at a buoy turn and cant completely judge the outcome solely by looking at race times.
One thing we can see for sure that there is a big time gap between Manuel Hoyuela and Bastian Grimm. So there must have been a battle amongst the top 3 leaving the rest of the field behind. The next big gap is between Zeno Szabo and Andrii Kraitor.

Women Tech. Race
Natalia Novitskaia missed her 3rd gold medal by 7.7 seconds to the Greek athlete Kyriaki Logotheti. Italys own, Claudia Postiglione came in thrid place. Then the gap grows to over 8 seconds.
