Korean SUP Cup by KAPP

The KAPP is launching a brand new competition, the K-SUP CUP, a set of national SUP events that will see the rise of Korean SUP Champions!

The KAPP, the subsidiary in Korea of the APP is expanding its operations by adding two more festivals. Given the success of the Busan SUP Open it was only natural that the sport will grow in Korea and now the organizers have taken action adding two more events in 2024.

This year, the K-SUP CUP is combining two SUP events that will be held in Gangneung and Danyang with a total prize money being over 33,700,000 KRW!! (USD 25000.-)Each event has its own price money as well with up 1,300,000 KRW (USD 1100.-)

For every race, participants will get ranked and get points that will count for their overall ranking. Do you have what it takes to be the next Korean SUP Champion?

Categories

ELITE 6km Distance race with a mass start (1km course x6 laps – Men and women compete separately)

AMATEURS 4km Distance race with a mass start (1km course x4 laps – Men and women compete separately) This race is opened to participants born in 2005 and before.

U18 2km Distance race with a mass start (1km course x2 laps – Boys and Girls compete separately) This race is opened to participants born in 2006 and 2007.

U16 2km Distance race with a mass start (1km course x2 laps – Boys and Girls compete separately) This race is opened to participants born in 2008 and 2009.

U14 2km Distance race with a mass start (1km course x2 laps – Boys and Girls compete separately) This race is opened to participants born in 2010 and after.

OPEN 1km course (1km course x1 lap) Open to everyone, regardless of age or skills, this course is the perfect opportunity to SUP without the pressure of the competition. For those willing to challenge themselves, an official timing will be given. Equipment (board and paddle) will be provided if needed. 

PRIZES A total prize of 12,000,000 KRW will be awarded for this competition. Prizes will be awarded based on the race results (Distance race) and points will count for the K-SUP Cup overall result and prizes. Prizes for men and women are awarded separately.

Make sure you are registering in the appropriate category. In case wrong information is provided or the registration does not match the requirements, the participation will be cancelled.

Registrations will close on May 31st, 2024. Registrations can be modified or cancelled until that date and once registrations are closed, modifications or cancellations will not be possible.

Participants can choose to participate in one category only for both Gangneung and Danyang events.

Board Rental

AMATEURS 300m Technical Sprint race

The 300m Technical Sprint race is a tournament based race split between Men and Women. This race is opened to participants born in 2005 and before. The starting position for the first round will be randomly selected via a draw and positions for next rounds will be determined by previous round rankings. 

4.5km Distance race 4.5km Distance race with a mass start (1.5km course x3 laps – Men and Women categories) This race is opened to participants born in 2005 and before.

U18 300m Technical Sprint race

The 300m Technical Sprint race is a tournament based race split between Boys and Girls. This race is opened to participants born in 2006 and 2007.

The starting position for the first round will be randomly selected via a draw and positions for next rounds will be determined by previous round rankings.

OPEN 1.5km Course

1.5km course (1.5km course x1 lap) Open to everyone, regardless of age or skills, this course is the perfect opportunity to SUP without the pressure of the competition. For those willing to challenge themselves, an official timing will be given. Equipment (board and paddle) will be provided if needed.

  • Make sure you are registering in the appropriate category. In case wrong information is provided or the registration does not match the requirements, the participation will be cancelled.
  • Registrations will close on July 21st, 2024. Registrations can be modified or cancelled until that date and once registrations are closed, modifications or cancellations will not be possible.
  • Participants can choose to race in the Sprint race only, Distance race only or both.
  • Participants racing in both Sprint and Distance races can choose only one category. It is not possible to participate in races from two different categories (ex: 300m Technical Sprint race in the Amateur category and 3km Distance race in the U18 category).
  • The minimum number of participants in each category is 8 persons. Under that minimum number, the category will be merged with the upper one (ex: The U14 category had 6 participants registered. Thus, participants of this category will compete together with the U16 participants).
