Vintage Casper Steinfath Interview

Every so and so often we have to go down memory lane and realize how long we have been covering the SUP Sport. This was an interview with Casper Steinfath from 2015 when he was getting involved with the ISA as a Vice President.

Crazy to think that after this many years and Olympic hopes we are waiting until at least the Olympics in Australia 2032. Back then the sport was all about Downwinding and Beach Races. Europeans like Casper would go to Hawaii and California to compete in the big ocean races. We shot this particular interview at Kai Lennys house where he had a skate ramp to practice for his surfing.

The sport has changed much since then, the surf culture within the sport has started to diminish as the demographics in the sport started to change and we barely have athletes left from the early days. Regardless the cultural changes the sport has not lost its appeal. We once again saw that at the ICF World Championships in Thailan.
