The ICF continues to make a mark in competitive SUP by adding another race to their roster. Now the Agios Nikolaos SUP Race on Crete is part of the ICF SUP World Cup. The race was traditionally part of the EURO TOUR up until 2021. Why it dropped out in 2022 is a thing of the unknown.

The International Canoe Federation has added another stand up paddling world cup to its busy 2023 calendar, announcing a competition on the Greek island of Crete.
The July 7-9 event will take place at Agios Nikolaos in Crete, a popular tourist destination which also boasts world-class SUP conditions. Prizemoney will be available for sprint, technical and long distance races.
ICF partner SportsCamps will organise a board pickup service in central Europe and will also offer SUP rentals during the competition.
The addition of the Crete world cup means the ICF will conduct SUP international events in Europe, North America and Europe this year. The ICF World Championships will be held in Pattaya, Thailand, in November.
“We are excited to be able to work with our friends at Agios Nikolaos to stage an additional world cup this season,” ICF SUP committee chair, Naomi Horvath, said.
“The organizing committee are very experienced and know how to put on a great show. And we are sure our athletes will love competing at such a beautiful destination.”
The Agios Nikolaos World Cup will feature races for junior, masters and elite athletes, and will be open to anyone to compete. The World Cup will provide the extra incentive of offering ranking points for the 2023 world championships.
