New faces old favorites

Great comeback for Fina Wylde.

After 18 month of absence and a bit of a disappointing debut at the EURO TOUR Longdistance race, Fiona came back with a “BANG”. She did not give a single heat away and made her way into the final with easily. The start was crucial for Fiona as Melanie Lafenetre was making a hard push in the first meters after the start. Fiona then was first at the first buoy as Melanies’ board went between her legs. Not a problem for Fiona she just stepped over it and continued leading the race. In the back of the group the nerves must have gotten to Caroline KĂĽntzel who fell at the buoy twice and then lost valuable distance and time to keep up with the front three. Fiona was also first at the 2nd buoy but then Juliette Du Haime made a big push over taking Melanie in 2nd.

Fiona never gave up the lead, even after the 3rd buoy (How does a sprint race have 3 buoys we will discuss later) she was still in the lead and Juliette fell back to 3rd again. Fiona how ever was never affected by the changes behind her she finished the race with a commanding lead showing all the new names that she is still a big force. Event after recovering for 18 month of a shoulder surgery.

Connor continuous the his winning streak in short distance racing

Connor did not give a single heat away and made quite mark with his new signature beach start were he tries to be on his feet by running / hopping like a Kangaroo trough as much water as he can. This technique seems to work for him just fine as he is getting the lead at every start.

Connor arrived at the first buoy putting the hammer down and kept to build his lead to the 2nd buoy and leading to the 3rd buoy again but now closely followed by Noic now. On the last stretch Noic tried really hard but it was Connor who ran away with the win. Connor Baxter truly showed and reaffirmed at his first race in 2023 that he is still the best in short distance racing.
