Day 2: (Longdistance)

Big upset and surprises in the men longdistance race

What a great live cast and race we were brought to during this first day of the WORLD SUP FESTIVAL. The biggest upset of the day in this longdistance race was probably Titouan Puyo not making the podium and the great surprise was Noic Garioud winning with 14 seconds over Michael Booth. The race between Noic (The Chicken), Boothy and also Ty Judson remained extremely exciting all the way to the finish line as Titou was not able to catch up to these leading guys coming in 4th (live cast at 2:31:33) This was Noics first race in Europe this year and as it looks like he might be claiming more podiums, giving Boothy, Titou and Ty a run for their money. Also note worthy was the youg japanese Suri “Shrimpy” Araki (16 years of age) who came in as 5th paddling in the junior division. In fact he was 3rd at the Carolina Cup beating Ty Judson there by 30 seconds.

Esperanza Barreras continous to dominate the women

Espe once again showing her dominance (live cast 2:35:42). She was on top of the game from start to finish winning with 2min 5sec ofer the strong Duna Grodillo and Anais Guyomach. For sure a bit of an upset was Amadine Chazot not making the podium this time as most of us expected this race to be a battle between these two.

Watch the live cast here one more time and hear Chris Parker slowly loosing his voice. Both, Chris and Mathieu did a great job with their commentary. Glad we had most of it in english as when things switched to spanish it became very hard to follow.
