The Legend of Ox takes place this year already for the 5th time. In recent years, the Legend of Ox developed into an increasingly popular event at Lake Wolfgang.
The Legend of Ox has already hosted the Austrian SUP National Championships, the SUP Alps Trophy and this year we are happy to be part of the ICF World Ranking League for the first time. The ICF World Ranking League is a worldwide league created by the International Canoe Federation, in which the world’s best Stand Up Paddlers can collect points for participation in the World Championships.
The Legend of Ox officially starts on Saturday, June 4 with the Technical Race, followed by the Team Technical Race, in both events the athletes & relay teams compete against each other in heats to advance to the finals. This will be followed by the award ceremony and after race party at the lido in St.Gilgen.
On Sunday, June 5, the event day starts with the Long Distance Race over 12km, followed by the Kids Race for children up to 13 years. In the afternoon the Legend of Ox will end with the eponymous main competition, the Legend of Ox Race, which will start at the lido St.Gilgen, go around the Ochsenkreuz Island and back to the lido St.Gilgen. A distance of 3 km is mastered.
All competitions are open to professionals and amateur athletes alike.
On all days there is plenty of entertainment, so each day starts with a warm-up yoga by regional yoga experts. Throughout the day there is a small but nice expo area where it is possible for all interested to test boards and SUP equipment. But also for the physical well-being is provided, so all visitors are supplied by our team with cool drinks and food. The days end with an after race party at the lido St.Gilgen, with moody music and time to enjoy a relaxed early summer evening.
