A World Stage for Youth Stand-Up Paddlers
From the call for a 60+ Race Division to a Junior International Cup
The 2026 ICF SUP Junior International Cup is set to bring the world’s best young stand-up paddlers together from June 19–21, 2026, at the renowned Bascov–Budeasa Regatta Course in Argeș County, Romania. This new international competition has been sanctioned by the International Canoe Federation (ICF) and marks a major development in the global youth SUP racing calendar.
🌍 A Premier Youth SUP Event
This dedicated junior event — branded with the tagline “Say Junior. Say Future.” — is exclusively for U14, U16 and U18 athletes and positions itself as a world-class platform for emerging SUP talent. Hosted by the Asociația Club Sportiv Paddling in cooperation with the Romanian Canoe Federation, the competition promises high-level racing and international exposure for the next generation of paddlers.
🗓️ Event Format and Racing Disciplines
Over three days of competition, athletes will compete across multiple SUP race formats:
- 🚀 Sprint Races (100 m)
- 🔄 Technical Races (800 m)
- 🌊 Long Distance Challenges (up to 10 km)
The event also boasts a €25,000 prize pool in cash and gifts for the top finishers, making it one of the most significant youth-focused events in the discipline.
📍 Bascov–Budeasa Regatta — A World-Class Venue
Nestled in the scenic Argeș River Valley, the Bascov–Budeasa Regatta Course is known for its calm and sheltered waters, nine competition lanes, and elite race infrastructure — ideal conditions for both athletes and spectators. Located just northwest of Bucharest, the area is emerging as one of Eastern Europe’s premier hubs for water sports.
🎒 Registration and What to Expect
Free athlete registration opens on January 20, 2026, and the provisional schedule includes:
- June 17: Training & accreditation
- June 18: Opening ceremony & briefing
- June 19–21: Sprint, technical, and long distance racing with medals and closing ceremony.
