The final chapter of the GWA Wingfoil World Cup Fuerteventura 2025 ended in spectacular style with the FreeFly-Slalom discipline delivering high-stakes action and standout performances. As the second of just three FreeFly-Slalom events on this year’s tour—with no discard results allowed—every heat was crucial.
Wingfoil Freefly Slalom racing has all the elements that make this exciting for the spectators: Speed, tight turns, crashes and a downwind pump foil section called the “Pumptrack”.
Tight Racing in Light Winds at Sotavento
Over three days, 22 men and 15 women took on the challenging slalom course in variable wind conditions that were lighter than typical for Fuerteventura. Seven elimination rounds were completed, narrowing the field down to the top competitors who would race in the finals.
Nia Suardiaz Dominates Women’s FreeFly-Slalom Final
Spanish rider Nia Suardiaz once again proved her dominance in the women’s division. After a strong performance in the qualifiers, she advanced directly to the final alongside France’s Kylie Belloeuvre. Joining them in the main race were Mar de Arce and Viola Lippitsch, who battled their way through the heats.
Belloeuvre led early in the final, but a tactical slip allowed Suardiaz to take the lead at the first mark. From there, she pulled away confidently, mastering the pump section and crossing the line in first place—further cementing her status as one of the sport’s top competitors.

Francesco Cappuzzo Claims Victory in Men’s Final
In the men’s division, Italian powerhouse Francesco Cappuzzo delivered a flawless final run. After earning a direct spot in the main final alongside teammate Bastien Escofet, Cappuzzo capitalized on a strong start and never looked back.
While Julien Rattotti and Riccardo Zorzi fought hard for the podium, it was Cappuzzo’s smooth execution and speed through the pump zone that secured him the win. Escofet followed in second, and Rattotti edged out Zorzi to complete the podium.
