Due to unfortunate circumstances, we had to discontinue the print version of Stand Up Magazin. The beauty of print is that the content doesn’t get lost in the endless stream of news feeds, allowing you to look back at history whenever you want. That’s exactly what we’re doing now: launching a SUP – Wing – Foil History series based on Stand Up Magazin.
In this video, we begin with Issue #1 from the fall of 2011. This was a time when SUP was all about downwind racing on Maui, while in Europe, we witnessed the growth of flatwater paddling. This issue covered both. We featured our first interviews with Sonni Hönscheid and Dave Kalama. Meanwhile, in Switzerland, a pioneer in Zürich started paddling on an inflatable SUP — something almost unheard of at the time. We also share the story of a SUP enthusiast who paddled from his home in Switzerland across Europe to the French town of Bordeaux.
With this video series, we are “digitizing” old stories and interviews that were originally preserved on paper, bringing them to life on YouTube.
