The Busan Open in its 3rd edition is starting to gain popularity with European paddlers. How could it not, other than the travel time to Busan, this race is epic. The setting and the show provided for the athletes and spectators elevates the SUP Sport to the next level plus there is good price money. Last years the Tech. Race was one of the most exciting ones of all year. Unfortunately this year we don’t get to see any of it as the APP and or KAPP is not able to provide a live webcast per their PR message:
The Busan SUP Open is back for its 3rd edition in 2024, and will once again take center stage this weekend at Gwangalli Beach in the district of Suyeong-Gu in Busan.
A selection of the World’s very best athletes are gathering on the beautiful Gwangalli Beach for a showdown like no other, with the 2024 Busan SUP Open set to kick off this weekend.
The Official Opening has been moved to Saturday morning due to weather issues this week, but will roll straight into Sprint Racing eliminations through the day followed by evening festivities. Sunday 6th will then be focused on Distance Racing, accompanied by entertainment through the day, that will cap off a weekend to remember.
Watch out for some of the APP legends such as Shuri Araki from Japan, Arthur Arutkin from France, Christian Andersen from Denmark and Fernando Serra from Spain (last year’s Champion) to mention just a few.
Meanwhile young upstarts such as Aaron Sanchez and Antonio Morillo from Spain and Donato Freens from Holland will be looking to take it to the established Pros, with the now veteran statesman for SUP here in Asia, Daniel Hasulyo, looking to make his presence felt and show that he still has what it takes.
In the Women’s division, watch out for the likes of Duna Gordillo and Laura Quetglas from Spain who will join Ji Won Choi, and Su Jeong Lim from Korea as well as a host of new Japanese talent stepping up to do battle. It promises to be an extremely exciting weekend of action here in Busan!
How can you watch? While there won’t be an international live broadcast just for this year, there will be live updates on APP Tour, social media
