The Busan Open 2024 was one of the standout events in the SUP race calendar, organized by KAPP a subsidiary of the APP (Association of Paddle Professionals). It brought all the excitement of top-tier stand-up paddle racing to South Korea’s bustling coastal city of Busan, known for its stunning beaches and vibrant maritime culture.
In the men’s sprint race, Christian Andersen from Denmark took the victory with a tactical race, pulling ahead of strong competitors like Shuri Araki and Antonio, a four-time World Champion. Duna Gordillo from Spain dominated the women’s sprint, showing her world-class skills by securing the win.
For the distance race, Shuri Arak of Japan won the race ahead of Christian Andersen with a clear 1:35 lead time. Third to the finish line was Aaron Sanchez.
The APP Results all show a DNS for the Women Distance Race. As of right now we do not know what caused that but were informed by one of the participants that the women LD took place. There might have been a timing issue. (Update 10/7: APP Updated Women points but no LD times)
