Foiling is a very technical sport, but with a little bit of knowledge new comers can go a long way.
If you make the connection from foiling to aviation you can get a better understanding of the characteristics of a foil. Everybody understands the basics about planes: A fighter jet performs much different than a cargo plane for example. We all understand that, we know how a fighter jet behaves in the air and how a cargo plane behaves.
When we apply this basic knowledge to foiling and are aware of the fact that we are just standing on a small airplane, steering it with your legs, we now can understand just by the look of a front wing what its behaviors are.
In this video we go over theses basics, helping beginners understanding foil shapes.
