2024 APP World Tour debut in India

Clever move into emerging markets or desperate to find new locations?

Prior to the announcement of the entire 2024 season, the APP World Tour announced their presence at the India Paddle Festival by sending several pro-athletes to compete in South Asia alongside the local legends. While it’s questionable how many athletes will be ready to race overseas this early in the season, it will be interesting to see how far SUP racing is already developed in this places of the world as Europe still holds the space of SUP racing epicenter.

The APP anticipates a significant growth in the region over the coming years, so let’s see how far SUP racing is already developed in India with the expected event happening in March.

The APP is proud to be supporting India’s first International SUP event prior to the launch of the 2024 APP World Tour

Taking place from the 8th – 10th March, the India Paddle Festival will be the first step in an exciting new development journey for the organization, as we anticipate significant growth in the region over the coming years.

Presented by Karnataka Tourism, the India Paddle Festival will welcome a selection of athletes from the APP World Tour, as well as other aspiring pros from the region, to Sasihitlu Beach in Mangalore for a weekend to remember.

It will also encourage up and coming local athletes to step up and be counted giving them the opportunity to learn from the visiting Pros in a unique and intimate environment. 

“We are thrilled to host some of the top international athletes, media and APP team for the first time in India”, says Kishore Kumar of Surfing Swami Foundation.

CEO of the APP World Tour, Tristan Boxford added: “We are excited to make our first step in India with Surfing Swami Foundation and Karnataka Tourism for what is an ideal kick off to an exciting future for the sport in the Country.”
