Unfortunately the ICE Race in Switzerland, that is part of the EURO TOUR had to scale back due to restrictions still in place by the Swiss government:
Important Update regarding “ICE Race 2021”
Due to the current Federal Council decision from last Wednesday, we unfortunately have to heavily restrict the ICE Race 2021 schedule. With the new measures such as the restriction of the number of participants (max. 50 competitors total) and the seating obligation for spectators, we are unfortunately not able to carry out a full event as predicted. Of course, we have checked all conceivable possibilities to be able to carry out the event nevertheless! But with the expected 150-200 participants the ICE Race in 2021 is simply not feasible to have everyone in the water. The safety of the participants as well as our volunteers and staff is our top priority.
As a result of this we have to cancel the open/amateur part of the ICE Race and we are only able to run a restricted “EuroTour Elite Race” on June 19, 2021 limited to 50 total participants. Only paddlers who are contacted by the EuroTour directly are authorized to start at the race. We are currently working on the final list and we will communicate on June 15th. Please contact EuroTour directly at email@example.com with any questions. The race will have Overall placing for both Women and Men where the 4500€ prize money will be distributed as announced before. There will be no Age categories of podiums of any other kind. The spots will be awarded based on previous EuroTour and National rankings.
In the event that your already confirmed spot does not meet this criteria, we will contact you directly and of course return the registration minus processing fee. All other races planned for the event have been unfortunately cancelled; participants will get a private mail with the options:
- – get a voucher for next year
- – get the money back, less processing fee
- – offer the money to the event
Now we are even more looking forward to be able to hold a complete ICE Race for 2022 (hopefully) without restrictions and in grand style on May 7. For your trust and understanding we thank you very much.
Stay healthy and see you soon at the Honu SUP Center Thun,
