The 9th edition of the Planet Baltic SUP Race™ brought more than 100 paddlers from 11 countries to Kołobrzeg, Poland, for a demanding weekend of racing on the Baltic Sea.
And the Baltic delivered. Across the event, competitors faced a wide range of conditions that tested virtually every aspect of SUP racing.
The opening day’s flat-water sprint conditions quickly changed as waves built to around 1.5 metres, adding a strong surf element to the racing. During the technical races, competitors also had to deal with winds reaching 23 knots, making board handling and race tactics particularly important.
For the final day’s 10 km Long Distance Race, conditions changed once again. This time, the Baltic produced classic downwind conditions with long, rolling waves, giving paddlers the opportunity to connect bumps and use the wind and swell on their way around the course.
MVP Titles Defended
Two familiar names once again emerged at the top of the overall competition.
Poland’s Marta Apanasewicz successfully defended her Planet Baltic SUP Race MVP title for an impressive fifth time, underlining her dominance at the event.
In the men’s competition, Germany’s Benyam Bossack successfully defended his MVP title for the second time.
Both defending champions also went all-in during the demanding Long Distance Race, taking gold in the 10 km event and securing their MVP titles in style.
With more than 100 athletes, an international field representing 11 countries and conditions ranging from flat water to surf, strong winds and finally downwind racing, the 2026 Planet Baltic SUP Race once again showcased the versatility required from modern SUP racers.
