The world class of the next generation in windsurfing at the Vanora Engadinwind by Dakine The international top event this year is all about the juniors of the Olympic windsurfing class with the hosting of the iQ Foil Youth & Junior World Championship.

This year it’s FOIL MANIA on Lake Silvaplana in the Engadin. On the occasion of the iQ Foil Youth & Junior World Championship, the world’s best windsurfers travel to Switzerland for the event. The Engadinwind has developed into the world’s most important and largest foil event. The Next Generation and contenders for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles will show windsurfing at the highest level on Lake Silvaplana. More than 300 athletes from 39 nations will travel to the Engadine this year and enjoy the unique lake landscape in the Engadine as a competition stage.

The Engadinwind takes place from 20th to 28th August 2022 on Lake Silvaplana and offers an attractive program peppered with highlights. The Engadinwind is the most important water sports event in the world and starts on August 20th with the 45th Engadin Surf Marathon with windsurfing, kitesurfing and wingfoiling. The marathon is the oldest windsurfing regatta that takes place every year in the Engadin. It will be interesting to see whether the kiters will continue to complete the 42 km marathon faster than the windsurfers and wingfoilers on the beautiful Lake Silvaplana. The Engadin wind attracts over 300 athletes from over 39 nations to the unique lake landscape of the Engadin.

A diverse supporting program with the stars will be provided, starting on August 20th at 8:00 p.m. with the legendary ENGADINWIND Party. At 21:00 the breathtaking film X-Project 2.0 will be shown on the main stage. Windsurfing in powder snow – a combination of different sports such as freeriding, speedriding, snowkiting and snowboarding in the beautiful mountain landscape of the Engadine. From 10:00 p.m. the party at the Mulets in Silvaplana will take place with DJ Friky from CZE.

From August 22nd, the Engadin wind on Lake Silvaplana will be dominated by the IQ Foil Youth & Junior World Championship. The organizer can confirm a record field of participants. It is the most important and largest foil competition in 2022 with 270 participants from 39 nations. IQ Foil is the new Olympic windsurf class for 2024 in Paris.

From August 26th to 28th the Foil Style Exhibition and a Windsurf Freestyle Tow-in Contest will take place.
The reigning Freestyle European Champion Yentel Caers from Belgium and the Swiss foil pioneer Balz MĂĽller from Biel, who won the Foil Style World Championship in Silvaplana last year, are also part of the party. Also at the start is the reigning freestyle world champion Amado Vriesvijk and the freestyle legend Taty Frans from Bonair.
One can be particularly excited about the 6-time European champion Steven van Broekhoeven, who fascinates the audience again and again with breathtaking maneuvers and is one of the world’s best freestylers.
