The relentless Corona Virus is now cutting into the SUP Season 2021. All across the world we are now dealing with new strains of the virus and having large gatherings already in April just seems to be out of reach. The boot show in DĂĽsseldorf had their dates postponed from January to April and then a few weeks after just had to cancel the entire trade show.
Now we are getting word that the Carolina Cup this April also must be postponed until later this year. We just received this news letter:
To all of our Carolina Cup Family,
We DEEPLY
appreciate your business and the trust you have put in us through the
years. We always do our best to do right by you in the face of
unexpected challenges even at a great cost to us. We have been watching
the development of COVID-19 very closely and are trying to do the best
thing for our athletes, volunteers, and the community where we hold this
event. It is with great disappointment that we announce the
postponement of the April 24th, 2021 Carolina Cup. Because of the way
things are developing, we didn’t feel it was prudent to postpone the
event much further in advance than this. We wanted to wait for as long
as possible to make sure we were making the most informed decision,
while not waiting too long and making it impossible for you to change
your plans. Although there are no travel restrictions in North Carolina
and no visitors must quarantine upon arrival presently, the same cannot
be said for the rest of the world. We have areas completely closed,
partially open, re-opening soon, and some with no restrictions. Since
our event draws a strong international crowd, we have decided it be
prudent and postpone our event to November 6th, 2021. We will make an
official update on that date by the end of April 2021.
All registered
athletes will automatically be pushed to this fall date. For any
athletes that can not make this date, we will honor their full
registration fee to a future date of the Carolina Cup. This is a
challenging time for everyone and there is a lot of uncertainty in the
air. We want to create an event that allows anyone in the world a fair
opportunity to participate at the 2021 Carolina Cup. We hope this news
finds you safe and healthy and look forward to seeing you on the
water.
