Freewing Launches New Range of Wings — Fiona Wylde Shares Her Thoughts
Freewing recently unveiled their new range of wings, and we caught up with Fiona Wylde — a long-time competitive wing foiler — to hear what she had to say about the latest developments.
Fiona is especially enthusiastic about the new LIFE wing. “It feels incredibly comfortable, super light, and the way it flies on its own is just remarkable,” she told us. One of her favorite upgrades is the new boom design, which adds a whole new level of rigidity while giving your hands greater freedom to move. This not only improves control but also helps when learning new maneuvers, allowing you to focus on hand placement and balance.
She also praised the upwind performance across the entire range. The wings feel balanced and never overpowered, thanks in part to a slimmer leading edge bladder that helps reduce turbulence.
Another standout feature is the high-quality material. The X-Ply canopy is both stiff and durable — even if your foil accidentally pierces it, the tear won’t continue spreading.
Beyond performance and build quality, Fiona also loves the vibrant graphics. “The bright colors aren’t just stylish — they also improve visibility and safety out on the water,” she noted.
