Update from Monday June 14th
The road to #EuroTour2021 wasn’t an easy one, with lots of challenges along the way, and we couldn’t be happier to make beautiful Podersdorf, Austria the first stop of the tour. With 12 different countries at the start line. We are super proud to have the first International event since the pandemic started be a success.
Saturday morning the sun was shinning and after completing the check-in process including the safety protocol, we went over the race course at the Skipper’s meeting. With a technical course on offer with 3 laps for a total of 6km’s, with numerous buoy turns, upwind, downwind sections and shallow water; competitors had plenty of challenges.
1pm saw the start of the Women’s Elite. With Esperanza Barreras making a big push in lap 1 to take the lead over her team mate Fiona Wylde. Fiona however never lost sight of her and in the 2nd lap on the upwind leg made a move to over take Espe. Using her DW skills on the small runs on offer along with her impecable buoy turns saw the American take a solid win and showcase she hasn’t missed a beat since her 2019 Overall Tour win.
Joy reigns in the editorial office: We are posting race results from the EURO TOUR for the first time in a long time. The race seems to have been a complete success.
Riders from 12 different nations gathered in Podersdorf, including Fiona Wylde, who was probably participating in an event outside the USA for the first time in a very long time.
So far we have received very few results but will update this post as soon as we have all the results together.
