Ich muss zugeben, ich habe nicht schlecht gestaunt als man mir gestern offenbarte, dass es noch eine EURO SUP TOUR geben wird. Gerade eben habe ich mich über das Hick-Hack im SUP Sport ausgelassen uns schon kommt das nächste Kapitel. Wie im Artikel angetönt ist man sich auch auf internationaler Ebene alles andere als einig. Die Stand Up World Series der Waterman League wird von einigen Internationalen boykottiert aber, die Waterman League hatte letztes Jahr den European SUP Cup ausgerufen und ich fand das eigentlich eine gute Idee. Nun kommt in der ersten Hälfte der Saison THE EURO TOUR mit dem ersten Rennen in Port Adriano und dem Finale am Happy Summer SUP Race in Namur, Belgien. Das Lost Mills in Deutschland ist auch Teil der EURO TOUR.
Geistiger Vater von THE EURO TOUR ist Belar Diaz, welcher in einem kurzen Telefonat zu mir meinte es ging hier hautsächlich darum mehr Leute an die Rennen zu locken. Darum gäbe es auch Rennen für Kinder.

Ein grosses Finale gibt es (noch) nicht und auch keine extra Preisgelder. Die Tour ist ein Zusammenschluss verschiedener Einzelrennen die mit dem Label THE EURO TOUR versehen werden, ähnlich wie beim DSUPV wo man das gleiche Prinzip verfolgt. Das coole an der EURO TOUR ist aber das alle auf die gleiche Rangliste kommen, d.h. also auch die Locals welche nur an einem Rennen mit dabei sind.
Ebenfalls sehr gut finde ich, dass man sich hier schnell auf EINE Brettlänge geeinigt hat: 14Fuss. Das macht das ganze viel einfacher denn es gibt eine Rangliste und keine Overall, 12’6“er und 14’er Rangliste.

Das beste aber kommt noch: Die Organisatoren der Tour sorgen auch dafür, dass die Boards der Athleten von einem Rennen zum Anderen kommen und obendrauf auch noch gratis.

Ob sich das Konzept durchsetzen wird oder nicht und was mit den anderen grossen Rennen in Europa passieren wird, darüber will ich hier nicht spekulieren, aber der Ansatz ist sehr gut. Wer weis vielleicht kommen die anderen Rennen auch noch dazu. Bilbao scheint ja von der Stand Up World Series schon zu THE EURO TOUR gewechselt zu haben.

We got word yesterday that a new EURO SUP TOUR has been founded. The Tour will be a unification of several large European SUP Races, starting in May with the Port Adriano Race on May 23rd ending in Belgium at the Happy Summer SUP Race in Namur. Honestly this came a bit with a surprise as we just posted the dates of the European SUP Cup as part of the Waterman Leagues Stand Up World Series. Now we are looking at tow entities unifying SUP Races across Europe.

But lets focus on this new idea: One of the great advantage of this tour will be that for once all races will be paddled with 14′ Foot boards, so there will be only one ranking. The best thing is that the organizers will transport the boards from one race to another for the athletes for FREE. That is simply amazing!

THE EURO TOUR is a brain child of Belar Diaz, who I had a quick conversation with earlier today. The idea and concept is to bring more people to the races he said and there will be also kids races as well. I asked about sponsors and overall price money but there are no big sponsors who unify the tour under a patronage and the overall winner will not go home with extra price money. Regrdless all the races have  their own individual price money. So plenty of money can be earned in this two month.

We are looking forward to an exciting European SUP Summer.
