Located 2 km from Strasbourg downtown\, along side the highway\, with the airport less than 15-minute drive from the show\, a train station three tram stops away\, and a tram stop on the show’s doorstep\, this is a “green” show. Once you reach Strasbourg there is no need to use a car.

Mixed scoring is possible in both thetwo and six (at least 2 women).However\, an individual rating is only possible if there are at least five boats starting in therespective boat class / rating!New: A junior race will be held separately\, which will be evaluated separately and givenhigh-quality prizes. The aim should be to give Oceansport a platform for youngsters and toguarantee the clubs a safe environment for their first entry / sailing on the Baltic Sea. Wewill bring more detailed information in the course of time\, as this race is supposed to bethe starting signal for a bigger idea. Preregistration is essential!• If the places are taken\, the participants should help each other\, as at any other event.• The BUS passenger shuttle still needs to be clarified\, as there will certainly berequirements.Safety:• The races are driven on the open Baltic Sea. Every participant is aware of the resultingdangers. Each participant starts at their own risk. The organizer assumes no liability forpersonal and / or property damage.• Participants who have not yet reached the age of 18 need permission from their legalguardians.• Every participant is obliged to help participants in need.• The mobile phone coverage on the route for feedback to the race management is 100%.Communication between the race management\, the support vehicles (water and land) andthe participants takes place via the cellular network.• At least 8 lifeboats will accompany the race. One boat is the lead boat with the first. Asecond boat will complete the field as the “finishing boat”. The other boats will commuteregularly between the tour and the end. The support boats can pick up participants indistress and bring them ashore on the direct route. From there they will be taken over by anescort vehicle. SUMMARY:California River Quest
DESCRIPTION:CRQ Whiskeytown Challenge\, AKA CRQ Drought Edition\n\n\n\nRecognizing the ongoing drought in California and the likelihood of very low water on the Sacramento River in 2023\, we are pivoting. The race WILL go on\, but it will be different for 2023. \n\n\n\nWe will host an ultra-endurance event at Whiskeytown Lake National Park in Shasta County\, California. The 2023 race will be a mileage challenge with options for racers at all levels (even our hard-core hero\, John Knippers). Whiskeytown Lake\, just a few miles west of the Sundial Bridge that marks the start of our usual event\, is a gem of Northern California and one of the most amazing places you have never been.  It is a large lake with beautiful clear waters\, amazing shores\, and numerous islands.  It has all the beauty of the Sacramento River\, but in a closed course\, making it an ideal location for a high-mileage event. Although this year’s CRQ will not be held on a river\, the conditions on the lake are variable and provide plenty of challenge\, with conditions varying from calm and cool in the morning to choppy and rough in the heat of the mid-day sun.  This venue also affords the ability to run the race through the night\, adding a whole new dimension to the event. \n\n\n\nThis format of this year’s race will be a series of mileage challenges. There is no set course; racers are free to develop their own strategy and use the conditions to their advantage.  Do downwinders all day\, or hide in the wind shadows and log miles.  Each paddler’s mileage will be continuously recorded by GPS and presented to the race officials at the completion of the event. \n\n\n\nThe race check-in area will be staffed and will operate throughout the day; family and friends are welcome to hang out with us and enjoy the event. We will have a beach party celebration/brunch mid-morning the following day. \n\n\n\n100-Mile Challenge\n\n\n\n24 hours to paddle 100 milesThe 100-Mile Challenge will start at dawn and conclude at sunrise the following day. Paddlers on the 100-Mile Challenge will have to paddle through the night\, adding another layer of psychological challenge. This is a serious challenge and will push anyone’s limits. \n\n\n\n50-Mile Challenge and 25-Mile Challenge\n\n\n\n12 hours to paddle 50 miles8 hours to paddle 25 miles \n\n\n\nThe formats will be similar\, but the 50 and 25-mile events will only run during daylight hours. \n\n\n\nCamping\n\n\n\nCampsites are also aplenty at Whiskeytown Lake. Like at the Tour de France\, all paddlers paddle the first 500 meters together before the actual start for the competing paddlers. The final lap\, called the Champagne Lap\, is also for all paddlers. At 13.00 Sunday afternoon\, we set off at a low speed to finalize the Red Bull Midsummer Vikings. More on this later. \n\n\n\nEquipmentTo make the proper preparations\, I’ll give a short brief on the equipment. \n\n\n\nAll teams will receive a GPS unit that the competing paddler must wear. The tracker is counting laps paddled and lap times.Only 14 ft boards and under are allowed. Mega SUP’s\, tandem SUP’s or other boards must be approved by the Race Director. They are always allowed during Grand Depart and Champagne lap.A leash is mandatory at all times. Flashing red light on your back body is mandatory between 21:00 and 05:00. Each team can share a flashing light.Hydration pack\, energy snacks\, mobile phones\, and lifevests or PFDs are highly recommended.Headlights\, safety flare and flashing white light on your front body are not mandatory.\n\n\n\nMore detailed information about equipment\, water safety and race guidelines will follow \n\n\n\nTwo campsitesThere are two campsites: A tent camp across the channel and a camper/van camp at the parking lot behind Kajakhotellet. Unfortunately\, we only have permission from the City of Copenhagen to stay in your tents and campers from Saturday to Sunday. You can set up your tent or camper Friday morning but have to sleep elsewhere.   Charity project: SMILfondenEach team is obliged to donate an amount per paddle lap for SMILfonden – an organization that makes life more fun for chronic ill kids and teenagers. It’s up to you how much you want to donate. Many teams find a sponsor or ask friends and families to donate a small amount. You can create an online campaign by using Betternow.
