EURO Tour Stopp 2 – Sonni Hönscheid die haushohe Siegerin von Port Adriano – Italiener dominieren das Podest bei den Herren
Die Bedingungen im Elite Race waren nicht ganz einfach. Wellen aus allen Richtungen sorgten für sehr unruhiges Wasser. Die Resultate bei den Damen sprechen nur eine Sprache: Sonni paddelt in ihrer eigenen Liga und wird von den heimischen Paddlerinnen kaum zu stoppen sein. Sie gewinnt souverän mit über 3 Minuten Vorsprung auf Susak Molinero, knappen 5 Minuten vor Laura Quetglas. Vierte wurde eine weitere Deutsche mit Susanne Lier.
Das Teilnehmerfeld bei den Herren zeigt, dass das Rennen von Port Adriano eher von lokalem Interesse ist als von Internationalem. Alle grossen Namen waren in Japan diese Woche. Viele davon werden direkt nach St. Maxime fliegen zum SUP Race Cup und dann zum Lost Mills.
Auch mit dabei war Peter Bartl welcher auf einem respektablen 10. Platz abschloss. Der Dauersieger aus Deutschland Normen Weber musste sich mit Platz 24 zufrieden geben. Wir gehen davon aus, dass die Bedingungen auf dem Meer dem sonst starken Paddler nicht sehr gelegen kamen.

Nach dem Rennen wieder zurück in Austria Mr. Peter Bartl verkündete folgendes auf seiner Facebookseit:
“Now back from Mallorca ..
I finished one of my harder SUP races in Port Adriano and had to fight hard for top ten,..not the result i want to go,
but it is what it is….
cruel conditions, cruel course…and a very strong Italian team with Paolo Marconi easily first…congrats
I am sure in the SUP Racing future we have to think about working more spectator friendly for 1 hour to 2 hour races, especially the Eurotour and other races in this categorie… and put courses near the people and spectators like formula 1 style to bring people to the sport, otherwise we risk that the SUP race sport will die, we are on the best way to get there..
Prize money gets reduced, registration fees are increasing, starters amount goes down, hobbyists have no chance to finish races in such conditions.. and more…
We have also some great long distance races like Carolina Cup or for example the 5 day event 11 city tours, which are popular and important for our SUP industry.
But what we dont need is 40 races per year in the 10 km category on boring lakes and in the middle of the ocean without making our SUP sport relevant..
Beside this type of races, we should increase :
-Downwinder races in Europe..
-Technical beach Races
-River SUP Cross (up to ww 3)
-channel races in big towns like Paris Nautic crossing or
Vienna Channel crossing ( with the right safety for sure)..
and the big SUP organisations all over the worls should work together and not against..
We need strong support from guys like supracer Christopher Parker, Head organizer of Eurotour Belar Diaz and other guys to make this happen and bring a bright future for our beloved supsport all over the world…

Macht schon auch Sinn finden wir. Auch uns ist aufgefallen, dass viele SUP Rennen auf dem Internet auf grosses Interesse stossen an Land sich aber kaum ein Schwein kümmert, national wie International.
