After a long wait and roumors on the possible future of the Battle of the Paddle the dates have finally be released. Not only was the BOP moved from the last weekend in September to the first weekend in October, it also moved location from Doheny State Park to Salt Creek Beach park still in Dana Point. All nice and well, we are happy to see that the BOP is arround for another year. The big challenge for most professional SUP-Athletes is now that they have to choos between the Battle of the Paddle and the Tourfinale of the Stand Up World Series wich will be for the third time in Turtle Bay at the exact same weekend – OCTOBER 4th /5th 2014 –
According the news released the Battle of the Paddle organisers did not volunteer to that date as they were forced to look for a new location for the event.
Nevertheless having the two most important events of the year on the same weekend will creat somewhat of a problem no doubt. As the Battle of the Paddle will loose some of the best paddlers in the world that are fully commited to be at the Stand Up World Series. Especially now that the Stand Up World Series has the blessing of the newly founded SUPAA.
We are sure the last word on this has not been spoken yet, because this clash of dates will have both sides loose.
Some SUP-Racers like Angie Jackson already have voiced their concern on their social media sites and the commets have been coming in accordingly.

Jetzt haben wir den Salat: Das Battle of the Paddle ist auf das gleiche Wochenende angesetzt wie das Finale der Stand Up World Series in Turtle Bay. Das Stand Up World Series Finale ist jeweils immer am ersten Oktober Wochenende und das Battle of the Paddle am letzten September Wochenende. Dieses Jahr hatten die Veranstalter der BOP aber keine andere Wahl als den Event ebenfallst auf den 4. / 5. Oktober zu verlegen. Das Battle of the Paddle wird ebenfalls nicht mehr im Doheny State Park statt finden sondern ein paar Kilometer weiter nördlich im Salt Creek beach park. Berichten zu folge hatten die Veranstalter des BOP ihre liebe Mühe einen neuen Standort für den Event zu finden und wurden gezwungen ihr Datum zu ändern.
Dieser Umstand kommt bei den SUP-Pros natürlich gar nicht gut an und die Situation wird auf Facebook schon heftig diskutiert. Denn die Überlagerung der beider Events kommt eigentlich niemandem zu gute.
Wir sind sicher das letzte Wort ist noch nicht gesprochen hier. Für den Moment schreiben wir uns aber den 4./5. Oktober in den Kalender.
